Transantiago

In this opportunity, I going to talk you about Transantiago, this new transport system has changed my life and it has been really important for me because I use every day Transantiago.

First, this new transport system had many problems, such as, there were few buses to all people of Santiago and the people waited a long time their bus at the bus stop.

But, later Transantiago improved his quality of service. And in this moment is better than the old transport system, in my opinion is better than the previous system because now the drivers don’t receive money, only are engaged in driving the bus, which means that it reduces the possibilities of being assaulted, something very common in the old system, and reduces the risk of any traffic accident because the driver had to do two things at once.

Moreover, another advantage that has Transantiago is that buses don’t stop at any corner and I know where will stop the bus.

In my experience, I have benefited with Transantiago because I know exactly how long it takes me to travel from one place to another, the drivers are more friendly to students, therefore most of the time I can get on the bus because the Transantiago drivers stop their bus, wich wasn’t the case with the old transport system.

Santiago

Today I’m going to write about Santiago, city where I live. This city has different places very interesting and entertaining.

If you have never been here before I recommend to visit the Forestal Park, this Park is located in the city center, is very funny on Sunday because you can see jugglers. In this Park there is a business named “Emporio la Rosa”, where you can eat delicious cake, ice cream and refreshments. Moreover in this park there is Bellas Artes Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art. Also you can find different cafes where you can spend a pleasant moment.

Other place that I recommend to visit is the San Cristobal Hill, in this place you can see whole city from above and you can visit the zoo. Also here is swimming pool if you can swim on summer. Other Hill that you can meet is the Santa Lucia Hill.

If you want to spend a great moment at night you could go to Bellavista neighborhood, Suecia neighborhood, Brasil neighborhood, Plaza San Enrique and Plaza Ñuñoa. In these places you can dance, drink a beer or any type of alcohol, listen live music and you can eat.

Well, these are some places of Santiago but there are many other.

My hobby

Hello everyone! In this occasion I’m going to write about the kinds of things that I like to do.

Well I enjoy doing many things, for example I like to read books, I like to dance with my friends and on Friday after University I like to talk with my classmates and drink something. Also I like to listen to music, among other things.

But particularly I like to watch different movies because every time that I watch a movie I feel different. Some films tell very interesting stories. The cost of this hobby is low because my boyfriend loves movies, has many films and those he lends me. Frequently I do it on weekend with my boyfriend, because he enjoys doing this too. I have been watching movies more consistently since last year.

I would like to do another hobby that I don`t do now, I would like to go to concerts of different groups of music as “Los Fabulosos Cadillacs”, “Faith no More” or other groups that come to Chile. But this is very expensive.

My experiences during the first semester of 2009

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to write about the relevant things that I did the last semester. First, I’m going to tell you that I learned and studied things really interesting and important for my life, but one of the most important things that I learned was in the subject named Clinical Psychology because I did with some classmates a work about the “Cancer”, this work was based in the Humanistic Psychology and through of this work I learned that our diseases can depend on us and our life style. For it, now is very important for me to get a balanced life. Moreover I discovered that I love the Humanistic Psychology.

Furthermore, in the last semester when I had free time I try to share with my friends, my family and my boyfriend because I had to spend too much time on my tests and works. Also on the weekend I went to various parties and I traveled to beach and a place called Graneros that is located in the sixth region of Chile.

Also during my first semester I had to face several challenges, but my principal challenge was learn English because this subject is very difficult for me. For it, this semester I will have to face the same challenge.

My blogging experience

Today is the last time that I'm going to write an entrance on this blog, and I will tell you how this blogging experience has been for me.

Well, I have really enjoyed this activity because I have learned a lot, practicing the language and increasing my vocabulary every week.

I also enjoyed telling you about my life, dreams and preferences. For example, when I wrote about my career, my future, my ideal job, my favourite subject, my favourite piece of technology or when I showed you a photograph with my friends and told you about a very interesting video by Ken Robinson. Really this experience was very entertaining and I hope that you have enjoyed it too. Moreover, I had the opportunity to meet my classmates when I read classmates's blog and so I knew their likes.And my blogging experience allowed me to have a dynamic and closer relationship with my teacher. Class to class she assessed me and she told me my grammar mistakes.

I think that this activity helped me to improve my English level in grammar and vocabulary, because I had the chance to write every week. I don’t know a lot of English and without this activity I would have less knowledge. I spent much time writing the blog because it is very difficult for me to write in English.

In my opinion my blogging experience only had positive aspects for my development, because it gave me tools and knowledge to continue learning English. So I hope I can continue with this blog in the next semester, because I have much to learn. I know that I must complement this knowledge with activities related to speaking and listening English.

"My ideal job"

Hello everyone! Today I’m going to talk you about my ideal job. I don’t know very well what area of Psychology I will choose but I would like to work with children and teenagers. Because I think that they are at an important stage in which they can learn different skills to be happy and change the course of their lives. Therefore, I would like to work with people in social risk because they need support and most of the time their families are disintegrated and they have lived traumatic experiences.

So I would like to work in communities or in places that receive people who have had troubles with the law as Sename because if I work in those places I could help and support to children and teenagers to have a better life in the future. Moreover, these places need to change the interventions that are using because aren’t efficient for children for leaving the crime and drug. Also I would like to realize research to understand the structural factors that are influencing the actions of these people.

The qualities and skills that I would need to do this job are: motivation, empathy, patience and imagination to be able to innovate in every difficult situation.

But when I am working in this job I could find different obstacles as low salaries and I could have frustration at don’t achieved the objectives that I imagined because I am working in an adversarial context.

"school kills creativity"

Hi! Today, I’m going to write about an interesting video that I saw. This video shows a conference of Ken Robinson in this conference he talks about the creativity, schools and society. He says that the human creativity is extraordinary and has an unpredictable evolution. Moreover he tells us that all children are born with great creativity, but when they start to grow little by little they lose their creativity.

Why? This happens because the school kills creativity, the school doesn’t teach creativity. It is reflected at moment that we see that children hasn’t afraid to make mistakes but they are stigmatized by school when they make mistakes. I think that it is very surprising because if you don’t make mistakes you will never be creative.

Furthermore the school believes that the there are subjects more important than other, so mathematics and language are more important than music, art and painting. Then the school educates the hemisphere that is related to the rational, forming in the things that are useful for the production. I think that isn’t correct because the school should educate to children in all aspects and not only for the needs of capitalism, should deliver a integral education.

For it, is necessary to rethink our views about the intelligence, because Ben Robinson say that intelligence has the characteristics of dynamic, diverse and distinct.

I liked this video because it invites us to rethink the principles of education that are being given to children and the importance of creativity.
