Well, I’ m going to write about my career, but Before I' m going to talk about how and why I decided to study psychology.

I will let you know that I studied Agronomy first, but when I realized that I wanted to work directly with people, I decided to quit, and start searching something that had to do with people; I really liked natural resources and nature, but my desire of having direct contact with people, was stronger.

Psychology is a career where I can study the human being as a whole (mind, body and spirit) and learn different factors that influence human’s actions. Those factors can be classified as social, economic, political and cultural.

Actually, society requires that individuals became successful, promoting certain lifestyles that don’t consider the real wishes and needs of human beings, so people have forgotten to have a healthy mind, body and spirit.

Psychologists contribute society by providing tools for helping people dealing with daily problems, psychologist also help people to integrate these three aspects in their lives.

But to achieve this and being a good professional, I need to develop different tools, as empathy with the pacient, acquirie clinical knowledge, know different psychotherapies and act ethically.

Psychology has several areas of specialization, and I am interested in the Gestalt Psychotherapy. The goal of this Psychotherapy is that people become aware of what they are doing, how they are doing it, and how they can change themselves, and at the same time, learning to accept and value themselves. This Psychotherapy is focused on what you are doing rather than what could have been or could have done.

This photograph was taken by a friend in December 2008 when I went to Congress of mental health and human rights organized by the association of “Madres de plaza de Mayo” in Buenos Aires. I went with approximately twenty people, who are students of Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology of the University of Chile. But in this photograph I’ m only with my friends of Psychology, there are Catalina, Daniela, Francisca, Valentina, Karina, Camila and Carolina. We were staying at the Sabatico Hostel and in that moment we were going to leave the hostel.

I like this photograph because I’ m with my friends and I love them. I believe that we appear very natural, beautiful and happy.
Also I like it because when I see this photograph I remember things I did with them, different places that I visited and funny moments. I really enjoy seeing this photo.

This photograph shows an important experience that I lived with my friends. I will never forget this travel.

Now I’m going to write about a website that I frequently use in my career. The website is www.facso.uchile.cl and I use it when I want see specified information about the courses I’m taking, their programs and schedules. Besides that I can look for the texts that I need to read class to class or for the exams. Also when I’m doing a work I can read and include the recent research that the teachers of my university have published.

In this website I get information about the teachers, I can read news about what is happening in the Faculty of social sciences and I can find different link of others website related with my career.

I like it because it is useful and it is designed to find all kinds of information very quickly. I visit this site once a week. I recommend it if you want to get any data about Psychology of the University of Chile.

In this opportunity I’ll tell you about my favorite piece of technology, my notebook. I got it as a present two years ago on my birthday. My mom decided to buy it because I have two brothers and we were using only one computer, which was very uncomfortable.

Now I don`t have a limited time to use the computer, the notebook is all mine and I can use it all day if I want. With this piece of technology I can work, read different papers, look for information on the internet, speak with my friends when I’m connected to MSN, watch videos and listen to some music.

I love my notebook because I can use it wherever, for example in my house, in the University or at my friends’ houses and now I don’t have to discuss with my brother and sister anymore to use the internet. So I thank my mother for this gift, it has changed my life and I don´t imagine me without my notebook.

I don't use this technological things, but for the english class I had to create this blog. So I hope this semester to can use this blog to learn this language because is very important to be a goood professional
